Around 30 students, staff and parents have been taking on the 'Ration Challenge' to fundraise, raise awareness and empathise with refugees in our world. More than 103 million people have fled their homes worldwide because of conflict or disaster, and that number is rising. To coincide with National Refugee Week (18-24th of June), we are participating in a challenge with 'Act For Peace' - eat the same rations as a refugee for 3 days (21-23rd of June), raise money and change lives.

So far our team has raised over $5000 which will go towards bringing emergency food, hygiene kits, and life-changing support to refugees and people who have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Syria. If you would like to contribute, fundraising is open until the end of the week here.

Students have been presenting in Secondary assemblies to help us understand:

  • What is a refugee and how is it different from internally displaced people or asylum seekers.
  • What are challenges facing refugees in our world?
  • What is life like as a refugee, by sharing stories/pictures from refugee camps

Thank you to the amazing families doing the challenge and to the incredible support our community has shown to them and to refugees in our world.
